Izakaya Musashi Miri (Menu)
At the entrance, I spotted the Today’s Special menu where the limited time items are listed on a chalkboard. Some of the interesting ingredients I saw was Torafugu (puffer fish) and Ankimo (monk fish liver).
The restaurant interior are installed with dark wooden furnishings and minimalistic Japanese decor, which transported me away from Miri. The seating is clean and comfortable with Air Conditioning and cozy lighting.
The restaurant has a open kitchen concept where it provides a view of how the meals are prepared. Customers can also choose to sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs in action.
I chose a window seat to enjoy the night view outside. Then, the waitress set up my table with metal cups, chili oil, pickled ginger, saucers, tissue box and bamboo chopsticks.
For appetizer, I ordered 4 types of sashimi or raw fish slices to share with my friend. We had Trout, Hamachi (Yellowtail amberjack), Madai (Japanese seabream) and Akami (Lean Japanese blufine tuna). It was fresh and odourless that it melted in our mouths.
Next, we ordered a plate of Tekka Hosomaki (Tuna Roll), Anago (Saltwater conger eel) and Engawa (Flouder fin) Nigiris. I added a touch of soy sauce onto the nigiris for a hint of the saltiness.
For my main course, I ordered Gyukatsu Don, which is their rib-eye cutlet rice bowl. I requested my beef to be cooked medium rare and it turned out the way I want it to be. The rice bowl comes with half a boiled egg, wakame and miso soup.
Lastly, my friend ordered the Unagi Don or Roasted eel rice bowl that is also served with miso soup.
