It’s my dad’s birthday! I reserved a table at Chan Kou Xian Hotpot Miri via WhatsApp to celebrate with my family. It was our first time dining there and I am super excited to bring my family along in this Authentic Chinese Style Hotpot experience.

Chan Kou Xian Hotpot Miri (Menu)
The hotpot restaurant is located on the first floor at Marina area, right above 马来西亚第一锅 Triangular Restaurant.
This is night view of the restaurant. It is easier to spot at night with its bright signboard compared to day time which can be easily missed.
The restaurant is accessible by lift and there is a building directory to guide our way.
I find it helpful that the restaurant pasted a small label inside the lift so that it is more direct for newcomers like me to find the place.
As the lift doors opened, I was led to the restaurant entrance with a warm modern decor of wood and muted flowers.
The seating area was clean and air conditioned. Natural lighting filled in the restaurant from the big windows with the streets in view.
After taking our seats, we started off with Double Pot soup bases of Coconut Chicken for a sweet light broth and Spicy Mala for a spicy kick.
For our hot pot spread, we ordered a set of Beef Rolls and Lamb Shank Rolls for our proteins.
We also ordered Homemade Pork Ball, Sweet Corn, White Radish Slice, Bell Roll, Chinese Cabbage, and Shaved Noodles to complete our hot pot meal.
Besides that, we got their Homemade Black Truffle Prawn Paste as well.
I cannot miss out on the Golden Mushroom and Black Fungus as they were my favourites.
Kelp was also added into the spread for its umami taste.
I ordered a plate of fresh beancurd skin so it can soak up all the broth for a flavourful bite.
Lastly, we had Alaska Crab Sticks in our hot pot spread.
For our drinks, we ordered a jug of cold Hawthorn Drink and a jug of cold Crystal Sugar Pear Soup. Both drinks are refreshing after torturing our taste buds with spicy numbing Mala soup.
To my dad’s surprise, the service staff came over to our table and sang him birthday song loudly. They also presented him a complimentary Birthday Flower which they creatively designed a rose flower out of pork slices.
And they placed the Birthday Flower in a huge wine glass filled with ice. This little gesture brought laughter and joy to my family.
