A Relaxing Evening at Tanjong Lobang Beach Miri
After I parked my car at the nearby carpark, I started my evening stroll from the right end of the beach.
As I walk along the beach, I enjoy the wide open space and gentle sea breeze blowing around me.
Walking towards the central part of the beach where there are few shoplots are visible.
Last time, I didn’t understand why there are holes on the beach with round sand balls all over. As I observe longer, I saw tiny crabs peeking!
Look at that amount of sand balls on the beach! There must be a village of tiny crabs here.
Unfortunately, Tanjong Lobang Beach didn’t escape its fate from beach erosion.
An old pine tree and its exposed roots here stands as a survivor to one of Miri’s cruel storms and high tides.
With the unpredictable nature of the sea, it reminds me to appreciate the present moment as the beach evolve in the future.
Look! Another pine tree that is out of place with its roots exposed.
As an effort to prevent further beach erosion at Tanjong Lobang beach, two rock groyne piers were built.
However due to lack of maintenance work, only the skeleton beam of a once beautiful pier remained.
A sight of Mirians having fun by the beach.
Overgrown plants creeping up to the abandoned pier that is making it hard to access.
Over the distance on the left side of the beach, the famous landmark Tanjong cliff is in view.
Now, let’s turn back to shore and walk along the picnic area that is located at the left side of Tanjong Lobang Beach.
The picnic area are well equipped with a brick pathway, stone benches, BBQ pits and rubbish bins. Best of all, it’s free for public use!
Besides that, the picnic area carpark is built a stone throw away for the convenience of the public.
The next famous landmark in Tanjong Lobang Beach is the iconic red arch lovers bridge. It connects the picnic area to the shoplot area.
Walking through the shoplot area, there are plenty of food choices to from. There is Excapade, a Japanese food restaurant. And Grasso, a burger and western food restaurant.
Fast food restaurants such as Pizza Hut and KFC drive thru are here too.
Besides that, Malaysian Fusion food is available here at DE Tanjong restaurant.
The shoplot area carpark is in walking distance from all the shops.
Lastly, explore more food options such as ABC (shaved ice), Bakso (Indonesian cuisine), Chinese stir-fry and more at the Food Bazaar.
Come and visit Tanjong Lobang Beach for a day off and make beautiful memories with your family and friends.
