Bintang Megamall is a pretty well-known shopping mall in Miri, and recently I went over to have a meals at one of the anchor F&B tenants, Nando’s. Many may not know this, but Nando’s is actually a South African brand, but it’s well loved by Malaysians of all walks of life.

Nando’s Bintang Megamall Miri
Nando’s is located at one of the outer facades of the mall, designed with modern elements of a fully steel and glass front. The pillars inside were decorated with traditional a vibrant South African patterns, giving the place a cheerful look.
Making an order here is pretty straightforward. The highlight of their menu is the Peri-peri chicken, a type of roasted spicy chicken where you can choose your level of spiciness. I went with the Quarter Chicken as I was dining alone.
The level I chose was Medium and it came labeled with an orange tag. I was served the wing/breast portion. You’re allowed to choose two side dishes to go with the chicken, so I went with coleslaw and potato chips.
I found the chicken juicy enough, plus I like their selection of sauces that you can add to your meal experience.
My meal also included a mushroom soup, a garlic cheesy pita bread and bottomless soft drink. I loved the fact that the drinks were self service so I could try a few different types throughout my meal.
To be honest, I wanted to really praise the mushroom soup but to me, it didn’t taste like something that was made from scratch. I must admit that I have tasted some better versions of this soup.
It wasn’t bad, but definitely not among the best mushroom soups that I’ve had. The pita bread was edible and I dipped it into the soup to enjoy.
I previously mentioned their selection of sauces that you can help yourself to. There are several levels of spiciness, and non-spicy sauces too.
Apart from chillies, the sauces also have a bit of sourness from lime and some garlic. It reminds me a little bit of those chilli sauce we get with Hainanese Chicken Rice. My favourite was the ‘Hot’ level sauce, just one level above mild.
Soft drink selections were alright for me. It included Coca-cola (including the sugar-free version), Sprite, orange juice, and iced lemon tea. There was also plain water for those who don’t want sugary drinks. Ice was self service from the machine.
Peach tea completed their drinks selection, and those who chose to have dessert can help themselves to the frozen yogurt machine.
Menu of Nando’s Bintang Megamall Miri
I’m glad that Nando’s has made its way to Miri, so we have more global food options. They’re always improving and changing with new promotions, so that makes visiting them an exciting option.
