Since the Mercure Hotel was a stylish and huge hotel right in the city centre of Miri, it obviously had an excellent swimming pool and gym. I wanted to go check it out and see what the Mercure was really offering its guests.

Swimming Pool & Gym of Mercure Hotel Miri
I took the elevator up to the floor that the swimming pool was on. Thankfully, everything was nicely labeled inside the elevator so I knew exactly where to go.
There was a lovely little seating area on the deck right next to the pool. I always like it when a swimming pool is on the roof because there’s a beautiful view. The whole city was visible and I could see so many trees. It was very green.
The pool wasn’t very big. But it would be nice and refreshing to do a few laps.
The swimming pool at the Mercure Hotel in Miri also had an upper deck, with a staircase leading up from the lower deck.
The upper deck had fully glass walls that were only waist high. This made sure that the view would not be blocked.
The whole city was lying under my feet. The cars on the roads all looked tiny because I was so high up.
The pool had been painted such bright colours. There were a lot of spherical and oval shapes and it looked different than most hotel pools that I had ever seen. It definitely wasn’t plain or boring.
A set of steps led down into the water and I could see that it was quite shallow.
A set of pool rules had been written right next to the pool. Guests were instructed not to dive and to shower before using the pool.
A bar and café area lay to one side. This was covered and shaded, unlike the swimming pool and the decks.
The gym, just like the pool, was on the small side. It was also surrounded by glass windows on all sides and the floor was made of material that made sure guests would not slip.
The gym had a small selection of exercise gear and there were large television screens hung up right above the windows.
The water dispenser stood in one corner and the rows of dumbbells had been neatly arranged on racks.
The treadmill looked a little different than what I was used to. It had a bit of a curve. I didn’t really know how easy or convenient it would be to use.
There was a rowing machine right next to the treadmill. There was a screen at the front which told people using the machine all about their speed and time and such details.
An air conditioner made sure that the small gym would not get too stuffy and claustrophobic.
Boxes and balls that could be used for exercising were piled in one corner. It was very neat since there wasn’t a lot of floor space.
There was one exercise bike with a screen in front.
The treadmill had a brilliant view of the city.
The exercise bench was placed right in front of the racks of dumbbells.
