While staying at the Mercure Hotel in Miri, I needed a place to park my car. Thankfully, the Mercure Hotel had a parking space where I could keep my car. It was a huge hotel with lots of rooms and the multi level parking area was also quite impressive.

Mercure Hotel Miri Parking
It was a paid parking area for hotel guests alone. Hotel guests needed to pay an entry fee of 10 Malaysian Ringgits. Non-guests or anyone who was misusing the parking spot would need to pay 250 Malaysian Ringgits.
The parking area was very neat and clean, with beautifully tiled floors on the inside and large glass doors. Everything was decorated in bright shades of red. The Mercure was just as meticulous about decorating its utilitarian areas as the lobby and reception space.
They use a special parking multilevel parking system, where the parking system would “store” your car after your parking. This system is “new”, at least in miri city.
As you can see from the image above, the left side is the car ready to drive, while the right side is where you should drive your car to. The system would then transfer it to storage. But you just can’t see where is the exact location of the the car, the system would handle it.
I saw some signs and notices which informed visitors about the traffic flow and gave some safety instructions. I could see that the heavier traffic was always between 11am and 1pm. The hotel advised guests to think about the traffic and plan ahead, which was great advice.
The hotel staff had given me a parking card and I could scan the card after parking my car. Every time I wanted to take out my car, I could show the card at the reception. Then I would check the monitor shown in the image above and wait for my car to be brought out.
Wait for the car to arrive, light turn green means ready
When my car arrived, I could see it through the big glass doors. I waited for the light to turn green. That meant that my car was ready and I could get inside and drive it. I liked how organized and systematic the whole thing was.
