Staying at Mercure Hotel Miri

huge painting on the side of the building

The first thing that caught my eye was the huge painting on the side of the building. It depicted the face of a girl, some musical instruments and notes and it was just beautiful. It made the whole neighbourhood look brighter and more colourful.

Then I went to the entrance with its large glass doors. They shifted to allow me to enter.

Mercure Hotel had won several awards

The Mercure Hotel had won several awards. There was a modern looking bookshelf on one side of the reception area. And they had displayed the awards with books, plants and some sculptures.

books and sculptures

I browsed through some of the books and looked at the sculptures while I was waiting for my room to be ready.

The architecture of the hotel was just amazing. Flowing installations hung from the ceiling and the floors were tiled with grey and white hexagonal tiles.

A bright and colourful mural took up an entire wall, depicting a woman with closed eyes and exotic, tropical birds, butterflies and flowers.

colour scheme was blue and pale brown

In fact, there were easels with canvases set on them scattered throughout the room. Obviously the whole place had been decorated by someone who loved art. The colour scheme was blue and pale brown.

the lift

Then I got my room number and it was time for me to head towards my room. I took the lift, which showed me that the guest rooms were on levels 6 to 15.

more art and installations along the walls

As soon as I stepped out of the lift, I saw more art and installations along the walls. Even the lights looked so interesting.

long carpeted corridor

I walked down the long carpeted corridor with doors leading to rooms on both sides. The yellow and blue carpet looked almost like a paint splattered piece of canvas.

But the area in front of the lift had been tiled and it reflected the bright ceiling lights.

room was pretty spacious

The room was pretty spacious, with two beds and a large bathroom.

bathroom had been painted in dark colours

The bathroom had been painted in dark colours. Even the bathroom tiles were dark and there was an emerald green closet area. There were several empty clothes hangers for guests who wanted to hang up their coats and clothes.

shower cubicle with glass walls

On the other side of the bathroom was a shower cubicle with glass walls. The walls above the toilet had dark blue and teal tiles. Every area inside the bathroom was divided so that water would not spill over from the shower to the toilet or the area around the sink.

iron and an ironing board

The Mercure Hotel had provided an iron and an ironing board. It had been folded up and left upright against one wall so that it would take up less space.

shower area

The shower area was also tiled in blue tiles and it gave the whole space an underwater sort of feeling. There was a hand shower that was quite convenient.

Bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash

Bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash had been kept inside the shower.

toilet

The whole bathroom and toilet was very clean and well-kept.

pair of twin beds

Then I went out into the actual bedroom. There was a pair of twin beds. The wall above the bed had been upholstered with an elegant grey cloth. There was also a pretty and colourful painting hanging right above one of the bedside tables.

A huge TV screen hung on the wall right opposite the beds which would be perfect for some late night television or movies!

There were bedside tables on either side of the beds and there was some space between the walls and the beds.

I loved the painting on the wall above the bed. It gave the room some personality and made it more interesting than a regular hotel room.

windows took up almost an entire wall

The windows took up almost an entire wall and allowed plenty of sunlight into the room. I was also pretty high up so I could see the skyline of Miri from the window.

the room

I decided to take some pictures of the room from all angles.

inside the room

The different colours and shades that I had seen in the lobby downstairs also continued inside the room. I was delighted with all the shades of blue.
