Korean Food at Oppa Kitchen Miri
They had Korean themed decor and K-pop music for a welcoming ambience.
There, my friends and I first ordered drinks: hot honey plum and iced honey aloe which were light drinks, sweetened mildly with honey for a refreshing start.
The cafe served us a banchan dish with kimchi and pickled radish it to pair with the food.
We also ordered a milkis shake which looked unique and exciting in a nice coral colour and foamy top.
For our dishes, we ordered kimchi pork cheese fried rice which was a bowl of flavourful pork rice in a decedent cheese sauce. It was a creamy, spicy and meaty meal.
Next, we got the fried dumplings filled with shrimp paired nicely with a sweet and spicy sauce and a nice fine crunchy salad.
Next I got the doenjang jjigae pork stew which packed a punch with the flavoured and the enoki mushrooms cooked really well in it giving the stew a nice bite. It was served with purple rice to soak up the soup.
We also ordered a bowl of bibimbap luncheon meat. It looked really interesting and tasted even better with all the components mixed together with the spicy sauce.
On a side, they presented their soju bottles on a rack in a photospot corner. The green bottles next to the muted background attracted attention.
The place was filled with little details of interior which made for really cute Instagrammable corners.
Menu
Their menu started with a few pages of Korean fried chicken which is very popular all around the world- it featured chicken in various sauces and it had something for everyone.
Next were the rice dishes which was also very extensive ranging from fried rice, rice bowls, gimbap and kimchi rice.
Next was the noodles section with both hot and cold noodles options- they had a spicy broth with hot round or cold glass noodles with different toppings.
The Korean cuisine menu featured various dishes like Korean pancakes; egg rolls; udon and ramen; dumplings and more Asian plates to choose from.
They also offered their special army stew and soups- the soups were spicy, creamy or brothy and the army stew was loaded with ingredients, noodles and meat.
I really liked the something to share and snack menu- it had simple fried items to go with the main dishes or to order as a familiar side with the complex Korean food.
Their drinks menu was very broad, starting with popular canned Korean drinks.
Next was the more crafted cocktails and mocktails which looked very refreshing and cold to pair with the hot meals.
The menu also showed drink dispenser and tower with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
For alcohol, they offered flavoured soju, choice of beer and rice wine options.
Lastly, they also had some local drinks for the familiar taste along with teas and mineral water.
